Releasing the source code of a render engine in his early stages, may be harmful than helpful: a company may take the ideas of Indigo, and simply put in his projects. And this wouldn't be funny to Ono. The only senior free render engine that I know it's POV-Ray, and always was freeware. And Blender was freeware with closed features before community buy it to NaN.

Let time pass. Let Indigo grow one, two, three years,... That everybody know about it, and his quality....it's Maxwell or Indigo??...and Ono decides what to do.

For now, simply enjoy with it.

I know that I code for fun.

To challenge myself, to use critical and logical thinking skills.

What if Nick wants to solve those problems himself?

That is his own perogative :)

If you want to start your own renderer, open source, then do it! From what I've seen, Nick has no problem pointing out which papers he's gotten ideas from.

Hell, start one, and I'll come onboard as gui design/art director. (Or anyone else, that is capable)
