Tire Rubber
Does anyone have a good suggestion on what sort of SSS settings to use for black rubber? (Like you might see on car tires or toilet plungers.)
I already know the color should be very dark (0.1, 0.1, 0.1), I just need to figure out what SSS values would be realistic.

Yes amazing images from zuani ! But if he had used sss that would have been noticeable on fine features at least Vulcanised natural rubber is pretty opaque, in biased terms the scattering radius could even be under 1mm.Borgleader wrote:well zuani did an incredible job making his tires. maybe you could ask him?

Not a MALP, but it's sci-fi related. 'Plunger' should be a big hint.
I honestly have no idea what these SSS values mean, I've only ever used them before to get a foggy room... Could someone point me to a crash course on SSS? I looked in the manual, but it wasn't very clear to me. Perhaps I will give Zuani a PM. I just want it to look a LITTLE bit softer than that tire rubber.

Unfortiunately, there really isn't a materia;l guide. The indigo manual mainly covers the xml, but that isnt useful for people who use the ui...Lord of the Rings Junkie wrote:Not a MALP, but it's sci-fi related. 'Plunger' should be a big hint.
