It seemed to reduce the noise a bit.Big Fan wrote:why is there a step_blend statement in there? there is no null
also I am a bit hazy about what the former does anyway - and no it is not in the manual...
if step blend is enabled, the following function is applied to the blend factor:
f(x) = 1 if x >= 0.5, else 0
I still doing tests with Indigo 1.0.9.3:
1. Texture 'blackrose_pattern.jpg' (BbB) on 'bump' of Specular transparent.
2. Material EtchedGlass from BbB.
3. Material EtchedGlass + bump in Specular transparent. It darkens the whole scene. Is it possible somehow?
Greetings.

Very nice demonstration of jpg in scalar plots in the first pic ! NEVER use jpgs for bump, displacement, etc. Jpgs are good for COLOR coding only. Jpg compression algorithm is perceptual, as such it is rather inefficient to restitute fine details (speckles ?). I'm reffering to the shadows, that's not a bug just jpg. The bump effect itself is great imo !
the image darkening suddently is possible only with Reinhard tonemapping, because it adapts itself automatically. This happens when a very bright part of the image (even a single pixel!) appears, pushing the less exposed bits in the dark. The two others tm algo will be consistent over time.
