It's January 2025 - is anyone still here?

Post by Manser » Tue Jan 14, 2025 2:47 pm

Hi everyone,

I've been an Indigo user since 2013. I just bought a new computer and loaded it with the latest Indigo Renderer - but I need admin to reset the license. I've emailed them a few times over the past 3 weeks but no one has replied. Usually Nick replies. What do I do? Is Indigo dead?

Hi Manser,

and HI EVERYONE.... IS ANYBODY HERE?

I am afraid Indigo is quite dead indeed.

But Nick (Ono Sendai) has another project which seems to get more of his attention: https://substrata.info/

It's the very same company that made Indigo Renderer (Glare), so it's OK to contact them this way.

Best of luck and a good year!

Cheers
Oliver

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Well, it was a great run. I loved this software.
Thanks for the scoop, Oliver!

@Manser

I just had them reset one of my licenses a couple weeks ago for a new workstation it did take them a little while but it was reset, use the request reset button on your license page. Its been a very long time since I had a response to a direct email.

Indigo is still very usable and my favored renderer in terms of output and setup (for max 2022 and sketchup 2021 perpetual licenses - so long as your not needing plugins for the latest versions of sketchup/max)

Though the lack of new features and updates has definitely been dragging it down over time.

If there are programmers interested in working on Indigo then reach out to Nick, at one point he raised the possibility of going open source.... Some of substrata I think is open source but I don't know if that includes anything from indigo.

Except if animation is required, All of my work done with Indigo, Everyday I discovered something new in Indigo that makes it the only tool that I'm using right now.
