Post by u3dreal » Mon Sep 18, 2006 5:18 am

Hi all,

well since i have another XP 2000+ standing around but unfortunatelly
no harddisk i was wondering whether it would be possible to run
indigo as a slave under wine from a bootlable linux distrbution like
knopix ... So if anyone has an idea help would be greatly
apprechiated as i don't have many expirince with linux and again less
with wine .. and bootlable linux CDs...

im afraid knopix 3.9 (might have been 3.8 ) was that last version of knopix that came with the regular version of wine. I know there is a way to get it but im not sure how. But a live CD of Suse will have it.

First of all you must have HDD, copy Indigo zip file and extract it on hdd. After booting your Knoppix mount partition that contains your Indigo. In the command line navigate to indigo folder and type "wine indigo.exe your_file.xml"

Oh, I didn't see that you don't have HDD, try to use Flash-drive or diskette instead hdd.

Hi all,

thanks again for the comments.... i downloaded knoppix 5.0.1
which has wine 0.9.12 .. :D and it boots up like nothing
i'm very impressed.....

indigo (0.6test2) runs also just normal as on windows... same commandwindow... same messages ...

but the framebuffer remains black or has some strange
colors but no rendered pic.... also the saved png and exr are "black"

Anyone has had this problem ??? Any suggestions... maybe i try with older version first... do i need wine 9.2 for test6x

that would be a pitty ... :(

cheers

I think only Wine 0.9.20 can runs Indigo 0.6t2 and above. My old 0.9.17 cant run 0.6tX, now i have 0.9.20 and works perfect.
Try Indigo 0.5 with 0.9.12 and see.

you shouldent need to update if it works, if you have problems you can give wine the dll file and it will use it to try and run it more acuratly.

yes mine does, for some reason even though i provided the corect path for the textures, indigo did not like me using premade textures taht i downloaded or that came with the software (im using Cinema 4d 9.603). Try re making all the textures your using yourself, that worked for me.
