Shadows?

Post by sidery » Fri Sep 14, 2007 9:09 am

I'm a newbie to indigo. However, i made a simple scene and rendered it. this was in version .5. then made some minor adjustments and rendered in .8. Problem. this render had no shadows. Is there something stupid im not doing? Sorry if its really obvious and questions like this get tiresome.
Oh, and same problem without the minor adjustments.

Can you post the render?

Shadows will happen automatically. I imagine there are shadows in your scene, but they are very soft and not very apparent. This can happen if you have large lights. Either that or your object is very small and it's letting almost all the light through (low absorption) .

These are the renders. they are really quite different so theres obviously something different in the export. Can't figure out what though.

ok, I know exactly, what you're doing wrong^^
you need to set the environment to "sun and sky" in Blendigo ;) (In the environment tab) - nice render, btw :D

Just as a note, you are getting shadows, they are just very very soft. Same as on an overcast day, it's almost like there are no shadows at all.

bright diffuse light, from a thin but seamless cloud-layer...
