A neat type of noise called pyroclastic noise.
Basically it uses a radius perturbation with an absolute valued FBM.

From here: http://magnuswrenninge.com/content/pubs ... ls2011.pdf

Should be good for Cumulus clouds (and volcanoes, explosions etc.. :) )

This is all looking super awesome.
One thing related to these that would immediately help us Blender users, in particular, would be support for loading voxel data. I really want to render Blender smoke and fire simulations. Are there plans for this in the near future?

There's support in trunk for loading blender voxel data files. Have any nice example data you can send me?

Nice! Yes, I have tons. Not at my computer now, but maybe later I can send you some scenes.

Another quick-n-dirty voxel test, data is in blender format.

Data courtesy of Barcelona Supercomputing Center. It's vorticity around a bus.

Improved cumulus cloud shader.
Getting there :)

Those clouds are just the bomb :) Really nice work!

Also, I shouldn't delay too much in getting you some IFS-generated voxel data ;)

Had the noise the wrong way around in the last render.

Testing an improved shader:

Better cumulus cloud.
Maybe good enough for now, next up is cirrus clouds: http://eo.ucar.edu/webweather/cloud3.html

Cirrus cloud attempt.
Much harder then I expected to get the characteristic wisp shape :)
