How can I make a glowing fluid in indigo?

I want to make a glowing fluid that emits light. Somehow like a radioactive fluid.

You can not combine SSS materials with meshlight. All are waiting of light material :roll:

Well..the only way i can think of right now is to use green RGB meshlight as fluid..and maby if you want some SSS stuff, then you can use some mesh around the fluid and use SSS material on that.

I'm not sure how this would work, but this is how I would start doing it.

The problem ist, that the fluid still has to be transparent, the meshlight in the middle of the fluid would be visible wouldn't it?

What do you think about adding a green meshlight to the ground of the glass and then making a fluid with extremely high sss values...

I would render two images, one with the fluid as a light material, another with an SSS material and combine the two in postproduction.

But if I only have the fluid as a light the sss render of the fluid will be completely black, so this method doesn't work...

I prepared a similar scene recently, basically it's a flame and smoke (hopefully at least). I have successive layers of geometry, the inner is where ignition occurs and the outer is the most transparent smoke layer. I'm planning to have the inner as a meshlight of course. Well... actually that was 20 days ago and I still only got geometries :mrgreen:

If you wish to test such scene, here are they 6MB zipped, obj format.

Beware the scale may be inapropriate.
