I just trowing this into discussion since a lo t of developer are giving up on developing OpenCL renderer on OS X because of the bad implementation. (LuxRender community)
I bought a MacPro a year ago and could barely use my GPU´s - if this is not working soon the cards are too old to use anyway...
other than that it is a great machine, would love to use Indigo GPU on it!
so will the new GPU mode work for OpenCL on OS X to, especially on both D700?
new indigo GPU Version also on mac?

Re: new indigo GPU Version also on mac?
Fortunately it's being developed for Mac's too, yes! We're quite a few Mac users on here actually.

We've also tested multi-GPU rendering on Apple's new Mac Pro running Mac OS X Yosemite, which features dual AMD D700 GPUs:
Apple have been a great help in getting Indigo's GPU rendering working on Mac, and we're looking forward to posting more GPU rendering results on the Mac Pro soon.
Keep an eye out for development updates as Indigo's GPU rendering mode matures with more features and faster rendering!

thanks oscar, this is really good news!
Re: new indigo GPU Version also on mac?
Yep, I'd love to hear more about the performance on mac's as well.
Info is being posted sparsely. By the end of the year my hardware will possibly be replaced and my current 2010 iMac will be handed on to my youngest son.
Then the question will be:
- what render modes are supported by the new version and
- what is the actual performance on different mac models
E.g. how does it perform on a:
- i7 iMac with AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB GDDR5
- basic quad core mac pro with Dual AMD FirePro D300
- mid range mac pro 6-Core and Dual GPU
etc.....
Right now there is very little information.
Something like a road map of what features will be available when would be nice

Re: new indigo GPU Version also on mac?
To be fair (not that i don't think Apple could do a lot more regarding the development of OpenCL, quite the contrary to be honest...), it's actually one developper of one exporter for LuxRender who has decided to leave because he couldn't get what he wanted .perfahl wrote:I just trowing this into discussion since a lo t of developer are giving up on developing OpenCL renderer on OS X because of the bad implementation. That said i'd like to know how well Indigo 4, when it's released, will work on my 2010 MacPro with a GTX970, can't wait to see it in action.
Re: new indigo GPU Version also on mac?
hm, chaos group and blender cycles had similar problems...
but if indigorenderer can do it I am happy! Sure they are already working with OS X Metal....

Re: new indigo GPU Version also on mac?
Yes, we plan to release the pure GPU support for Mac as well.
