That there just made my day!
Any idea when this could be expected in the wild?

Just the other day I saw that Alienware is offering a laptop, the
Alienware 13, that has an optional extra "graphics amplifier" that can be plugged in to give it graphics expandability and offer some form of future proofing. Excellent!
.....
Alienware 13 it's just the first available out of the box eGPU solution, that come out with high cost. Also use a non standard interface so can be used only on Alienware laptop.
For lower cost and max future proof you can build a DIY eGPU solution if your laptop does have ExpressCard, mPCIe, PCI-E or Thunderbolt available interface.
Unfortunately due to Intel obstructionism TB solution cost more than it should be, anyway your are sure can work on any future hw.

Hard to say exactly.
Once 3.8 stable is done we will think about doing some beta testing of the early pure GPU stuff.

Looking at past beta to stable release lead time we can expect something about 1y from the first public beta.
Meaning 3.8 available somewhere in 2015Q1 and pure GPU only much later (1y?).
Just my opinion.

To be transparent: mine was not in any way a critic of your hard work.
Just applied statistics.

Will this be a new separate product than the indigo standard and indigo rt versions?

How will this affect the RT product? Discontinued? Features updated?
