Community Chat

Post by fused » Sat Jul 27, 2013 1:09 am

Hi everyone,

I'm glad to announce that we brought back the chat (which some of you may remember).

You can find it here: http://www.indigorenderer.com/community-chat

It works via an embedded IRC client. You can, of course use any traditional IRC client as well.

#IndigoRenderer on irc.freenode.net.

Cool. It's also available through the Support site menu.

Yeah, we were wondering where to put it. Since we don't have a "Community" menu and there are already too many top level items on the manu, we decided to put it under "Support".

We named it "Community Chat", not "Support Chat" or "Live Chat" to put emphasis on it not being a replacement for direct support by us.

Do you think we should not under, any circumstances, put it under "Support"?

It can be a viable means of support, but I doubt it would replace the forums/email. Also, troubleshooting stuff in the forums rather than through the chat leaves instructions for other people experiencing same issues in the future. More valuable IMHO.

Why no, I think it's fine where you decided to put it !

Voytech is right on value though but the forum and chat can be seen as complementary also. Edit: and even more specifically, chat and mails.

By the way Oscar, did you mention your idea of integrating the chat into the forum page ?

edit: the chat is running.

using chrome from Win8.1, same thing happens, however if you close/minimize the first window before opening more Indigo forum pages then the rest will all be closed/minimized
