Thinking of getting a new CPU

Post by baka » Fri Feb 01, 2013 8:39 am

I'm considering getting a 2600k or a 3770k, and would like to know how faster would it render under 3.4.16 compared to a 3Ghz Q6600 . It would be great, if anyone would be kind enough to fire up one of the indigo scenes and give me some solid numbers.

Best to do some benchmarking with Erotica & Pins test-scenes, a 5min test should be enough :)
I suggest that the 3770k is 4 times as fast as your actual CPU.

I'm getting 420k on erotica and I've seen people get 1100k. but on older versions of indigo. I really want to see some updated results.

I just tested with the latest beta (3.6.6) and I am getting ~1350k on the erotica scene with my i7 870.

I have a i7 3770 (non k) and I get ~2000k in erotica in 3.6.6.

I did crank up the multipliers to the max tho (so it's running at 4.10GHz and a little faster still when turbo mode is on).

With some careful overclocking you can probably get a lot more out of the unlocked 3770k.

Also, I had a Q9300 before (which is roughly on par with the Q6600) and if I recall correctly I got ~900k samples per second(probably less, actually) in erotica.
