new material preview scene
Quite honestly radiance I dont give a rats what you assume to do
I would rather in fact ono actually took responsibility for running his own website and supplying his own materials model for his own project
If it is a circus it was not helped in the slightest by his smart remark about a 'sphere' when ever he was asked for opinion of what it should look like and a general lack of useful feedback from other indigoists
My few cents

I have new materials:

Arneoog, do you have the XML file for yours? If so, can you share it?
To me it is the cleanest and clearest. Perhaps on a CGsphere type background? The only improvements I can think of are making the thinning more obvious (well, the stuff behind it, like in YaroslavL's one [the 'transparent' bit])
I dunno. Anyway, I think a materials DB would be excellent, and the sooner one is decided upon the better. I'd like to start rendering some materials!

Yeah, Radiance, how dare you devote so much time to setting up the website and running things.I would rather in fact ono actually took responsibility for running his own website and supplying his own materials model for his own project
Here is my material Model.. :
http://www.elqx.com/sm/indigo/myMatPrev.xml
It isn't very good modelled though..
I am still trying to come up with something perfect.....

Thx manitwo
Originally the wave was not that pronounced, looked more like a sine wave but was thicker, I had to redo a second version from scratch*, that is a simple thing tho.
*That's why the sphere is too big, overflooding the box of "air". I like it like that too, the little lens floating around is neat.
Man I'm objective
EDIT Resized previews
440px 220px
11000+ mutations per pixel, no post process.

That is pretty stylish, CTZn!
But I (still) don't think it's good enough.. sorry
Just wondering, Why don't you guys render it in the 440x440 resolution?
Then you'll see how it would turn out when it's rendered for the Mat DB
The "Details" and stuff I mean.. Also resize it to 220x220 if you want
Cheers!
