I played with it a bit, but I didn't get very far. The documentation is sparse at best (and I'm no python guru either).benn wrote:We're working on render api integration for indigo w/ 2.5. Might have a prototype in a week or two. We're doing it with Doug who's also doing the lux integration, so there will be two good renderers available for Blender.

Heh, pretty interesting feature concept. I love the new interface. It's like they finally realized that they don't need to make it as complicated as possible.

Blender default UI isn't terribly complicated (Although maybe terrible un-appealing?) You may think so because you are used to an ultra-simplistic UI (Sketchup)

I would think that it's the other way around. Many, many people who tried to learn blender gave up just because of the UI.

Someone who seems like a long time blender user seems to admit that it's UI has problems... Evidently, the developers themeslves have conceded that Blender's UI could have been better considering that it's one of the major goals of 2.5.

Thanks Borgleader I was enjoying myself right up to the lame ps3/toaster thing.
On topic now, anyone been playing with the smoke simulation in 2.5? I haven't had a lot of time with it yet but it looks very promising. Any chance we'll get volumetric materials in indigo?

Hey, not yet excited about blender 2.5, but I have to admit it is becoming a great piece of software if I refer to the video links you are posting.
I am seriously considering another evaluation when stable versions will come out.

I also consider to give Blender a go with fluid and smoke simulation to integrate in my pipeline...
