finalRender threatened by unbiased competition?

I was browsing the finalRender website and found a "benchmark" test the company had done in order to highlight the difference between their renderer and an unbiased MLT/Monte Carlo approach.

Click here to read the article

What's interesting is precisely how they managed to end up such a poor image after a whole hour of rendering. I don't think it's physically possible, even with a naive path tracer, to come up with something that terrible without intentionally crippling it. If this is the case, Cebas must surely be feeling threatened by the next generation of MLT/ERPT renderers like Maxwell if they're willing to lie to their clients about the quality of the competition.

LOL.. that is one of the funniest things i have read for a while.
' After several hours rendering . . .'
lol
Their path tracer implementation totally sucks balls.. it's not even converging to a correct result!

I hate Final Render. GO INDIGO :D

i think this post is quite old, perhaps much earlier than maxwell
comes forward.

Yeah they had this on their site from I think the time when the first Maxwell beta came out.

It is a bit silly really, since as has already been said, they've obvioulsy implemented a deliberately crap path tracer for marketing BS.

finalRender's not too bad a renderer in some ways: their acceleration algorithms are wquite interesting and its got some nice features. Their competitions more the brazil/vray market than mw/indigo tho :/

of course, they are not aiming to take down Maxwell... but come on, VRay, Mental Ray, Brazil- they all kill FR in quality, and in a bunch of cases, in speed.

In some calculation methods, is really quantity can imitate the MLT, this has already is confirmed, for example: C4D FR BR VR.... they also can.

But in some aspects, the MLT has its own characteristics.

I have already become accustomed to use the MLT, so I still look forward to usage MLT( But I hope the MLT calculation speed can accelerate, in render size 1600 X2500, I am to feel helpless)

i think that there is room for everyone
and the renderer choice is usually made by the good or bad integration
of the modeler that the artist/architect is acustomed to.

I don't find it funny at all. I find it distortion of statistics

So,I use M~W1.1 test it............

hehe, you ruined their argument!

although if FR converges in 15 secs as they say, it's still much-much faster.
