Found this on the Blender forums but thought that Indigo users everywhere could find it useful.

EDIT:

It appears that the Gimp Normal Map plugin works pretty cool as well.

Indigo doesn't support normal maps though

Crazybump also outputs displacement (greyscale) maps calculated from normal maps.
