thunderbolt 3 experiences

Hi All
Im having issues with network rendering (IT policies etc) so looking at thunderbolt 3 + external GPU/s.
Anyone tried this - does indigo have any issues?
I have a certified laptop (HP omen15) and a PC with 2 GPUs so hoping to connect them via cable. I assume i'll need a thunderbolt 3 card for the PC...anything else?
