Radeon Vega?

Post by contegufo » Sun Apr 15, 2018 4:39 am

Hi

The Radeon Vega cards seem to be the ones preferred by miners .....
They are expensive and can not be found.
Are we waiting for the next release or do we choose an Nvidia card?
Mac Mini 2011 - 2,3 GHz Intel Core i5
16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 - Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 Mb.
Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB - MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6

For max performance, I would suggest 1080ti or Vega. they both have similar speeds. Nvidia is faster in light/outdoor scenes. Vega is best with memory management and heavy scenes. I would look for a Vega FE. I own 6. They perform slightly slower than the 1080ti OC but even at low power will still keep performance and has 16gigs of ram. All the vega cards perform about the same so 56 or 64 doesn't matter.

Right now isn't an especially good time to buy AMD GPUs as their prices are still abnormally high. This is due to the fact that AMD cards are better at crypto mining and suffered especially from the inflation the crypto craze caused.

The only AMD card worth considering over Nvidia at the moment is the 8GB version of the RX 580. It's essentially identical in performance to the 1060 6GB but with higher VRAM for better texture detail.
