Two GPUs

Post by pavoda » Wed Apr 12, 2017 9:31 pm

Hi,
I looking for new PC configuration. I would like use Indigo for main render and most of scene I plan render by GPU. I would like working and rendering in same time, so I want to buy two GPUs. Quastion is what cards?
Is it better two same cards like gtx 1070 or one monster card like gtx 1080ti and second some mainstreem like gtx1060 for screening.
Do you have some experience with similar configuration?

For maximum rendering speed, it's best to have two matched cards, like two 1070s. Curiously, a 1080 isnt actually much faster in Indigo than a 1070 (don't know about 1080Ti, may well be crazy quick). I'd say 1070s provide the most perf per $, so I'd definitivt go with those.

Thanks Oscar,
I was decide for two 1070s, but new 1080TI is fairly intereting by power/ price ( 1080ti is about 30% faster than 1080). And if I will rendering most time by only one card maybe it is better combionation (1080ti +1060).
Most important for me that during the rendering on the GPU computer will fully usable to work.

Yeah, if you're still going to do 3D stuff in the background a 1080ti + 1060 (for display) combination is probably better. :)

I decided for two 1070 and ryzen 1700.
It work fine :)

It is possible rendering with both card and system still run quite good.

This is benchmark results ...( origin clock)

Indigo Benchmark v4.0.46, Windows 64-bit build.
AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Eight-Core Processor (AuthenticAMD) - Bedroom: 0.768 M samples/s
GeForce GTX 1070 (NVIDIA Corporation) - Bedroom: 3.582 M samples/s
GeForce GTX 1070 (NVIDIA Corporation), GeForce GTX 1070 (NVIDIA Corporation) - Bedroom: 6.464 M samples/s
AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Eight-Core Processor (AuthenticAMD) - Supercar: 1.527 M samples/s
GeForce GTX 1070 (NVIDIA Corporation) - Supercar: 11.487 M samples/s
GeForce GTX 1070 (NVIDIA Corporation), GeForce GTX 1070 (NVIDIA Corporation) - Supercar: 21.242 M samples/s

One question: is it possible move indigo licence to new PC?
