New AMD card
New AMD card
Hi
"In addition to presenting the Radeon Pro Duo card, while Capsaicin event at GDC 2016, AMD has shown its roadmap to next-generation GPU.
Known as the home of Sunnyvale is divided into two architectures (Polaris and Vega) that was previously referred to as generating "Arctic Islands" based on 14nm FinFET technology.
Polaris and Vega share the same macro-architecture, but point to different market segments: the first will replace the current GPU maistream / end performance, while the second will occupy the high-end / enthusiast end. We can consider this approach as an adjustment to the strategy that Nvidia adopts some time in the graphics chips segment (Kepler and Kepler-Big, Big-Maxwell and Maxwell, Pascal and Big-Pascall, etc.)
During the 2016 AMD will launch two GPU architecture-based Polaris, simply call Polaris 10 and 11. Polaris Polaris 10 will die of 232mm2 and will offer performance in line / slightly higher than those of Hawaii, but with significantly lower fuel consumption thanks to the new process productive. The basic architecture will be the GCN4 combined to a new memory controller (always for GDDR5 memory). Polaris 11, however, will have a smaller die (120mm2) it will also be used in the mobile space.
Vega will come only in 2017 in the form of two GPUs (Vega 10 and Vega 11). Vega 10, previously known as Greenland, will be the new top of the range solution. We will not find a new architecture compared to Polaris but there will be a significant increase in all functional units and a greater propensity to GPU-computing. The great innovation introduced by Vega will be the IMC with support for fast HBM2 memories.
In 2018, with the introduction of Ships, AMD actually propose next-generation architecture with major changes to the cache, the shader core, the front-end, back-end and with the support of a new type of memory."
Between June and September 2016 we will have updates even by Apple for MacBook Pro and iMac but exploit versions mobility. The MacPro cher expect renewed should two GPUs Fire recent production class. Not only new GPU but also PCI and V.3 and Tunderbolt 3. For those who want to renew should wait a few months. It 'also coming Nvidia GeForce 1080 GTX.

Probably not, but at least he should! xDPolinalkrimizei wrote:Do you get paid for your posts?

I also think that everybody of us is capable of following the consumer orientated hardware market contegufo.Polinalkrimizei wrote:Do you get paid for your posts?
If new AMD or NVIDIA cards infos get leaked somewhere, they are on top pages of every website, no need for such "news".
Stuff away from the hyped areas of consumer electronic or software are more interesting

Re: New AMD card
I haven't read about it anywhere else TBH Zom-B, as I don't follow hardware news very closely. I thought this was a perfectly valid off topic post.

Hi
They are not paid for by anyone, and the news is on line on the Internet. Are suggestions for those willing to purchase new hardware. Then everyone chooses what he wants, the important thing is to have the right information for a smart purchase.

Re: New AMD card
Hope to add something useful for the discussion.
News can be find everywhere, more difficult is to find "outliers" relevant news for the specific community.
In some years I did assemble a small number of webzine that allow me to track the hw and sw side, possibly departing from the sites just following the market leaders. Next is my - maybe trivial - list, will be possibly nice to exchange suggestions:
http://www.creativebloq.com/
http://anandtech.com/
http://wccftech.com/
http://www.guru3d.com/
https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/ ... -projects/
http://www.c4dcafe.com/
http://www.hpcwire.com/
I used to rely on Zite also to spot for interesting uncommon news, sad for the Flipboard acquisition and still searching for alternative.
Interested to find something specific about the rendering market segment and research, but I did find quite normally here many interesting topics to signal some interesting event.

Re: New AMD card
I used to read every single article on the TechReport since the 90s, but recently the owner left and since then... it's really not the same It's thanks to their site that I know so much GPU and CPU trivia, all the instruction sets and cache sizes and whatever Mentioning this because normally they should be at the top of any list of hw review sites.
Also, some more info on Pascal: https://devblogs.nvidia.com/parallelfor ... de-pascal/

Re: New AMD card
What about the GTX 1080 that comes out in 2/3 weeks ? It seems a very good card for not that much money.
Would it be a good card reguarding the GPU accel for indigo 3.8.xx and pure GPU for indigo 4.0.xx ?
Would there still be the problem of not allowing its entire memory ? it has 8Go and 2560 CUDA cores

Probably, looking forward to trying it outOnizuka wrote:Would it be a good card reguarding the GPU accel for indigo 3.8.xx and pure GPU for indigo 4.0.xx ?

Re: New AMD card
With the launch of the new AMD Vega 10 and 11 anticipated to October I'm curious to know the OpenCL performances of these cards that are supposed to have about 4000 and 6000 stream processor.
