The story seems to be over.
Softimage 2015 installation process is now titled as "Autodesk Maya with Softimage 2015".

ICE is amazing, some other toolset in it as well, but honestly I hated working with it.
I'm really not software centered and can usually work with any tool, but Softimage is really weird to get into. The community didn't grow at all for a reason the past few years. Obviously the ones that were working with it for 10 years can get every bit out of this software, but others not so much.
Probably takes a certain mindset. I'm working with C4D and while it sucks for many reasons as well, at least it's rock solid for most stuff. In Softimage crashes and bugs are looked at as features.
