Plenty of space for amazement... or the other way around.

two articles that came at once from Science Daily, along with a google blog post:

Bow ties and cuttlefish: New insight into a visual super sense is about our little known ability to perceive polarized light,

Human-like 'eye' in single-celled plankton: Mitochondria, plastids evolved together is self-explaining and plain amazing imho

and another stunning catch at how robots identify objects visually nowadays: Inceptionism: Going Deeper into Neural Networks in the respective order.

Wizz.

Thanks for posting these little. Scientific snippets. There is not a whole lot of user feedback in this thread, but don't be discouraged. I enjoy this thread and your posts. Don't stop please!

No, thank you a lot! Zom-B just hooked me up with some awesome articles, and all I can say is, please, keep posting these stuff, create one super mega thread for this, it's pure gold. I'll start creating a massive base of those articles to keep them from the tooth of time. Reading this type of articles actually broadens your mind, and you start getting ideas instantly. Great stuff.

Exactly, it is my duty to inform you on the moving boundaries of our (mostly technical) realm ! Of course I'm posting a selection, but the sources are up the links if you need more.

Pretty sure I already posted about it then, now continued: Physicists show 'molecules' made of light may be possible
We're learning how to build complex states of light that, in turn, can be built into more complex objects. This is the first time anyone has shown how to bind two photons a finite distance apart.

One thing that I may not have made clear, is that it's OK to react and discuss and extrapolate here !

For instance, photons are not eactly massless as stated, relates with their speed limit of 300,000Km/s. That's hence why they are sensible to extreme gravity fields.

On a different note, mega photonic structures can be thought of a way to crack the space-time construct open in a(n hopefully) non-destructive way. That's science fiction now but the article above is on achieved quantic control of photons density really.

When v4 ?
