Mazinger Z

Post by afecelis » Sun Jan 14, 2007 5:25 pm

Dunno if you guys know who/what Mazinger Z is, but for us "oldies" it's one of the greatest heroes of our childhood  Created in the nice Japanese animation style, Mazinger Z was a giant mecha-robot that was operated (could we say driven here?) by Kouji Kabuto from a spaceship that fitted perfectly in its head.
Now the interesting part; I was searching for some images of it (since it's more than 30 years old by now) and I ran into a marvelous render at Javier Sanchez's (Spanish Photographer) website. Analyzing it, you can see it would be a nice challenge for any render engine!! The image is very well achieved!!

Memories!!!

It's a composite, yet the 3d work and the render job are amazing!

I'm much more impressed by the 2d part, the holes in the road are just astounding (er, astonishing ? mwah, dunno) ! The 3d part is very good, while textures are just amazing.
