Best Notebook for modeling and rendering?

Post by Whaat » Wed Jan 05, 2011 7:14 am

I'm looking into leasing a new notebook but I'm a bit confused to what would be the best specs for modeling and rendering.

Since I primarily use SketchUp for modeling, openGL performance is very important. For this reason, I am considering a system with a Nvidia Quadro card (such as the 3800M).

However, would a high-end gaming notebook be even better? For example, a system with a GTX 460M card? I have seen benchmarking tests that show the 460M far outperforming the quadro 3800M but that was using 3DMark software which I don't think is a good comparison for using openGL and CAD software (am I wrong?)

Alos, in terms of rendering with Indigo GPU, what would be the ideal notebook?

Thanks.
