Bug - Indigo v0.6 Test 1 - bidirectional/phong
Edited for better reading and to save the searchsystem of phpBB. *fg*
Heya Nick!
The bidirectional support is mocking the phong lobe ...
If I try to render a scene with bidirectional enabled and phong materials
in the scene I get strange artifacts. Without bidir no problem. ;o)
Here is the example that is showing the artifacts and the download of the scenefile:
note: No primitive is being used, meshes only.
Thanks for reading!
edit: btw. big thanx for the phong speedup! The noise clears up
faster then in Indigo v0.5 Test 7.
edit 2: The provided scene renders fine with and without bidir
in Indigo v0.5 Test7.
edit 3: Tested the same scene without Meshlights and used
a HDRI for lighting. Result: No problem with bidirectinal support.
This Image shows HDRI with bidirectional ...
edit 4:Test with Skylight and background element: Same problem
with bidir ... artefacts are showing up fast.
This Image shows Background element with bidirectional ...
... to be continued.
take care

I also have this problem, but I found that using phong with NK data removes the artifacts... weird.
Here's part of an image (after about 12 hours rendering) with normal phong materials:
Ithen changed the metal backplate to use NKdata and it rendered fine, though the plug plastic still had artifacts.
Edit: also had this problem majorly with skylights and meshes, though everything looks fine in v5 test7

Nick? I need some feedback. Is the bumpmapping support broken with
phong at this time? I tried to do a lil investigation and was on the way
to help a mate out with a testscene. ... but bumpmapping seems to be
off - at least for me. ;o)
Phong - w/o bidir
Diffuse - w/bidir
Specular - w/bidir
There is nothing special about the scene, just three meshlights a
background and a leather-bumpmap ...
As you can see the diffuse and specular shader getting faceted if I use
a bumpmap ... any update on this issue is very welcome ... thanx! ;o)
