I've been setting up my own renderfarm from a bunch of old (but working) PIII computers and everything was going fine until I started indigo on one of the computers. I tried insatlling the wx libraries, but even now it won't launch. I checked again with a terminal window and now it simply says:
$ ./indigo
Illegal instruction
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
EDIT: I was using the 1.1.18 version before. I tried to launch the 1.0.9 version - it started up, but when I went to File > Open, it crashed with the same error message, "Illegal Instruction".
Indigo won't launch - linux 32bit
Re: Indigo won't launch - linux 32bit
Indigo uses started using SSE instructions, which makes indigo faster but has CPU requirments. P3s do not have SSE, and thus, can not run indigo.

At first, I thought it was that too.
But according to Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium_III

And, are there older versions of indigo that does not use SSE?The most notable difference was the addition of the SSE instruction set

There are several diffrent extensions to SSE over the years, P3s can't support something made after their time

It works in Wine however, even though it's still P3!
Any idea why?

Re: Indigo won't launch - linux 32bit
I'd have to look in wine's source code to confirm, but wine works by taking the binary instructions in a windows binary and attempts to call their unix counterparts. My guess is that when wine runs into these SSE instructions, it simply calls several equivalent instructions that are not apart of SSE.
This is only a guess though.
