Request: multithreaded TriTree::build()

Post by Zom-B » Thu Jul 20, 2006 7:42 am

After the multithreaded 0.6 test 1 version is out I started testing this build,
everything fine for me so far! :D

But I recognized, that after starting Indigo while the Render do the TriTree::build()
only one of my prozessor Cores is used in this pre-rendering state.

I'm new to Indigo, so I have to test a lot of setting,
the most for geting the lightning I aim for...

Speeding up the TriTree::build() would result in a faster "first view" of the Rendering,
so adjustment to lightning could be done also faster!

I don't know if this is possible, just a idea of an happy Indigo user

bye

I'm not sure if it's possible either. It might be a little tricky.
However there's something that would probably be even more useful, which is to cache the built tree on disk. That way, as long as you don't alter the mesh, it can just load it off disk, which should take a few seconds max.

Sounds good!

Some big Projects with lots of polys need some Time to start...
caching the Date on disk would be fantastic!

I look forward to future progress of your great Project!!!

thanks

*EDIT*
öhm.... would this caching of Data on disk also allow to continue a Render,
that was stoped before??? *hint
