Hi folks,
Just recently downloaded the linux 64 bit build of Indigo for my new and first timer Ubuntu 8.04 linux insallation. Must admit I treated it rather like a windows app. Extracted it and tried to click on the resulting executableS. No joy and nothing wants to open! I have been reading that a lot of apps need packages to make the apps run. But I would have thought that people have already downloaded the linux version from this site and had success with it. I get the same no go situation with LuxRender. Although I know I am able to build the binary from that if I want to. What am I doing wrong please?
UBUNTU 8.04 64BIT version and Indigo.

Hi folks,
Well finally after your good advice I have got Indigo and luxrender working. After all concerned and in particular 'joegiampaoli's' advice on which packages to install! wxwidgets package - "Try installing libwxbase and libwxgtk from synaptic" . These two did the job fine! Now gonna try and get it working with Blender. Done it in Windows, so just a little more fiddling in the dark. Just as a foot note. I am totally new to Ubuntu and Linux. So at the minute it is from my experience a totally different mindset, wherein widows everything is done for you but.........................? Enough said!!!! Thankyou all!
