Can't see sky/sun behind glass on 1.1.5

Post by mrmoose » Tue Jul 15, 2008 2:06 am

With 1.1.5 i can't see the sky through glass.

This is my glass material:

Code: Select all

    <medium>
        <name>Medvetrob</name>
        <precedence>10</precedence>
        <basic>
            <ior>1.50000</ior>
            <cauchy_b_coeff>0.00000</cauchy_b_coeff>
            <absorption_coefficient_spectrum>
                <rgb>
                    <rgb>1 1 1</rgb>
                    <gamma>1</gamma>
                </rgb>
            </absorption_coefficient_spectrum>
        </basic>
    </medium>
    <material>
        <name>vetrob</name>
        <specular>
            <internal_medium_name>Medvetrob</internal_medium_name>
            <transparent>true</transparent>
        </specular>
    </material>
With previous version it was visible 8)

Don't worry. Only reason I know is because I've been there too... ;-)

Thanks for saying this, BbB. I can't seem to stop reporting bidir caveats, mainly endless grain, to a point where i'm fearing a ban from unbiased renderers sites :P

In the case bidir works good for a given scene, but do not allow noise reduction in a decent time frame, I suggest to polish the render by resuming the igi with pure MLT.

*idea* for multiple threads (I said some similarish things before, already...)
each thread has its own rendermode.
With 6 threads, you could have every rendermode running at once!

  • MLT BiDir
  • MLT
  • Hybrid BiDir
  • Hybrid
  • PT BiDir
  • PT
With just two threads, one could do, what you just suggested but in a single render :D

You mean putting every technique result in a separate layer ? That's just 3 of them mate !

Is that already possible? How do I do this? Do I start it from a command line and type in some funny stuff or something?

Hold on Antony, we are speculating on Ingigo (near) future :D Still, you can render the 3 images separately and... well, you know that already ;)

Nah, I also mean, splitting bidir and no-bidir in single threads... Then, you have six of them. (If you set all six, that is. - it could easily be that that's suboptimal for most scenes...)

Lol anthony. Well, did you actually save an igi? Then it should be kinda simple :)
