Why not to make the GUI more mighty?
Why not to make the GUI more mighty?
I would appreciate the possibilities to start, stop and resume a rendering from inside the gui, either as menu items or with buttons.
At the moment is the only way to stop a rendering, to close the gui (as far as I know). Not very smart.
Also an overall more powerfull gui with more options would be nice.
For example a build in text editor and an array (probably best an own window, activated from the menu, like in most of other programs) for preferences with all possible options in a clearly arranged manner.
Of cource this is all just my wishful thinking but i really mean, this would be great improvements!

I feel you! Unfortunately it's not Nik's way of doing things. I mean GUI
coding ... so it's to us, or at least to those of us who can code in some
language, to do this kinda stuff. I know, it sounds like ... "shit no!" ...
But thats the way it is, at least for now!

i realy wont a gui with more options than "open scene"......and this i believe will help a lot non-pro users to do simple things.....andthis will give to indigo more "attractive" output to new user to come and play with it....so its not only a help tool is an"must"....
i dont know why Ono left behind this...sure its not too boring...and sure can do very good work into gui too....but...to someone else to write a new gui i believe with out the general directions from Ono about "methods" and other programming "stuff"...will a pain!!!how can be?
any one with very good prog skills?

Ahhh, ... ya well. Then Nik should stop developing at all, because MPD,
Layer blending and all additional stuff that will use the framebuffer
and more RAM will kill the PC of people who can't afford more RAM
and a 64bit OS. Oooops, ... did I miss something?! I do think so!

I personally like Indigo being a commandline tool.
But a nice, userfriendly gui will definitely make it a lot easier for newbies or just non-cmd-lovers.
Since Indigo is fully operateable from commandline, it is easy to make an external gui (just like the resumers and other utilities).
So that somebody did an external gui with whatever functions people would like, seems like a good idea to me.
As far as i know (which isn't very much) it wouldn't affect the performance. At least not much.
