Problems with OpenCL rendering on Mac

Post by eyeball3000 » Thu Mar 08, 2018 9:58 am

Hi guys

I'm having some trouble rendering with OpenCL on my Mac machines*. I'm just getting a black picture:

Both systems are supposed to support OpenCL 1.2 (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202823)
I'm also getting a SPP count. When I save the picture it's black as in the preview.

Does anyone know what's the problem? Is this a known issue?

Cheers
Benjamin

Are you getting a picture with CPU? Is this with a particular scene, or are you unable to render the material preview scene too, for example?

have a look in the render log also. (in render settings widget)

I found out that the scene was getting no light.
All my light sources where spherical primitives. For some reason this does not go well with OpenCl (at least on MacOS)
When replacing them with meshes it worked again.

That's right, spherical primitives aren't supported in OpenCL at the moment.
