[REQ] Light sample multiplier

Post by Eneen » Fri Aug 11, 2017 8:45 pm

This is really cool feature that puts more samples to indirect so interiors are evenly sampled. It's very common that direct sun inside interior is almost noiseless and there is noise everywhere else.

Inside Indigo since 4.0.48

Code: Select all

* Added emission_sampling_factor setting for materials - is a multiplier for the amount of sampling emission from that material receives.

Thank you Zom-B.
Unfortunately it seems to be unavailable for background settings. Would be great to have it for sun/sky separately.

Yes, correct. until this is integrated you simply raise all other Lights instead of lowering your sun/sky :)

@Zom-B:
This emitter sample multiplier is not same as corona LSM. LSM controls samples of GI pass, so you can boost samples for indirect only globally. This is common problem for interiors with sunlight, parts of image where sun hits can be noise-free and rest is noisy. With LSM you can balance this. I'm not sure why they have gaven it such name though...
