[BUG] Shadow Catcher Material

Hey guys,
is it possible that shadow catcher material is broken?
IMHO shadow catcher material did the following: it was applicable to all materials, and simply cutting off everything where no shadow falls on it. In junction with foreground alpha.
Or am I wrong and I remenbered it incorrect?
If I am wrong; such a shadow catcher material would be awesome!!

You have to use "Shadows" render mode. And it's only applicable to diffuse at the moment. :)
