Holy crap! How long has that been there? :O

For icons on OSX.
Would be awesome to have some .svg format (resolution independent format).
Just to avoid any "bottlenecks" of multiple resolution screens in the wild.
Or simply the basic @2x.png javascript method would work fine too.

These are just really small things but help's keep the design & feel of Indigo consistent on every setup.

As for that dark UI: Just checked the source of Illustrator.
It seems (to me) they are using a really simple method for the UI's effect.
Elements (icons, logos, etc) are created in two versions one light and one dark.
And the slider in the pref menu basically just controls the color of the App frame via a set cssrgba value.
So the slider itself just controls the alpha value of the dark UI. So if you set it to Light its 1 and if you set it to dark its 0.
And the script just pulls the corresponding icon based o the value of the a.

I think that indigo's function and form could use some more well.. something. Hard to put my finger on it. I find adjusting lighting to be missing something. I was eating something delicious when a light bulb went off in my head. What about being able to assign light layers within the indigo ui? Saving and resuming could be streamlined too. I would love to see the ability to create "snapshot" of renders. The way I see it, it would function somewhat like tabs in a browser, except that it simply mirrors the current render (sort of like duplicating layers in photoshop, allowing you the freedom to experiment to your hearts content.

Hi

The proposed interface is attractive and is a concept to be evaluated carefully
I'm sure Indigo 4 will have interface improvements. The way forward is the typical minimalist graphics of recent Apple OSX System. In tab. on the left there will certainly be a preview of the materials that should be saved for future use.
I read that Godzilla was drawing new icons but also across the interface will be improved. However, the users' interests must be seen as something to be appreciated. I think that the release of indigo 4 is imminent!

Well..at the end of the day Indigo has to remain Indigo. I would not worry much about PS's featursets and UI.
It's a case of quality rather then just throw out the whole UI and make a new one from scratch.
From my point of view its like driving a Ferrari which looks like a trabant.
BUT thats not as bad as one might think i like that Indigo is based on a small team and is what it is.
On the other hand its such an amazing product that it simply deserves more care on the UI/UX front.
And not to be trendy ( GOD NO )... just to have a more professional look, and a much more enjoyable interface.
Enjoyable = simple if you will.

A modular interface for the UI would be the golden path.
So in a frame everyone would be able to build out the perfect setup for his/her needs.

I hate Windows 10 and its interface.
These icons look terrible.
Make a selection button where everyone can choose the interface he likes.

Great to see people engaged in making Indigo better. Hope the devs are having a close look at graphics designer Originalplan's GUI proposal and try to give the GUI a fresh new look. It doesn't need a revolution - it's the little things. And nodes. :)

Hi

I deal with computer graphics since 1992 when I bought a Mac Quadra 33h+System7 he was in two floppy disk. Mac Topas cost more than € 4000 and also RendeMan+ShowPlace+Glimpse, Swivel 3D, Strata and other software but they were simple to use even without reading the manual, thanks to an intuitive interface. Today software are very complicated, very heavy for disk space and demanding Ram. Indigo is conspicuous by its simplicity is an example of a simple to use yet very power efficient. The interface needs some improvement but it does not upset the good feeling in the use of the software.

I agree, Indigo is simplistic and user friendly over all, but it has its share of counter intuitive little quirks and could use a bit of an update with slicker colours and fonts, along with some more tonemapping tools and nodes for material editing. But then I guess we've got to save some stuff for v. 4.2 right?

Will make a mockup of some node base system for you Oscar
Stay tuned.
