[REQ] v.4 - New UI elements.
Hey guys, i think a new take on Indigo's UI elements will be great in the new release.
New icons or updated icons and a serious kerning on every text and type elements would be great.
Its just an idea and it would be awesome if it could be a community project.
Indigo is such a great product so POWERFULL that i just feel it deserves a more professional look & feel.
BUT ONLY if that does not mean +6 months of development.....seriously cant wait any longer on ver.4

Did a superquick mockup of things.... just an idea a path..if you like.
Left side is the OpenCL preview...Right side is the Live preview.. 500KB png is too small to get every detail but you can get the idea.

TABS are a GREAT IDEA!!Oscar J wrote:Looks great!
Don't forget my tabs: http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/dow ... &mode=view
In that way everything can be organized on the left side ( no more clutter ).

That looks great originalplan. We actually have some new icons designed by godzilla as well.

Thanks Ono!OnoSendai wrote:That looks great originalplan. We actually have some new icons designed by godzilla as well.
New icons = YES! Cant wait to see them.
Any chance v 4 will have a true dark option on OSX ?
Like Adobe apps?
Re: [REQ] v.4 - New UI elements.
Maybe.. what are the features of a 'true dark mode'?

Re: [REQ] v.4 - New UI elements.
Well its just a slider in the preferences menu.
But what it does is that it gives the user the ability to change the color styles not only inside the App,menus etc..
it allows to change the OSX (mandatory) App frame color too.
+ Ono if you guys have the time before release, please implement a kerning snipet part in the CSS file of Indigo .
Texts are not easy to read inside the App sometimes. Its a small thing but makes a huge difference.

The good thing with a dark UI is that the render becomes much more central and upfront whereas with a white UI the image tends to look underexposed compared to the rest of the UI, which can make it harder for the artist to do the tonemapping.

Its basic color theory ( a very serious topic in any form of design ).
Every color pops out better and more dominant on a darker background.
This is a great read > http://monoskop.org/images/4/46/Itten_J ... _Color.pdf

By the way - the UI design you did - is that actually programmed or PS?

maybe slightly off-topic, but in terms of render visibility, I'd also request a full-screen mode to view your current render (like photoshop's full-screen black background, toggled with the F key) something that would hide all menus and palettes so you just see your image.
