[REQ] v4 video functionality

Post by snorky » Thu Feb 25, 2016 9:51 pm

maybe a timeline in light layer section (with keyframes, rgb and gain slider and everything needed)
[like blender's powerfull timeline]
it's usefull for a light animation with still camera.

now is very tedious! save as, move slider, save as, move slider, save as, move slider......

There's probably a lot of functionality that could be brought over from Chaotica, including this. Also why does Chaotica still have much more flexible tonemapping options than Indigo? :?

Why not saving each LL to a own file and then do your Animation inside a proper Video Editor??
With such a small team like Glare is I would like rather to see them focus on the core features and enhancements instead of bringing stuff that other Software is capable of way better...

#DontWasteDevTime

Seeing the Chaotica tonmapping features would be sweet, since (afaik) it can be ported quite simple because of the same GUI framework

tedious is the answer...
It's what I do now, but if I had many files in the queue, like a "standard" camera animation, the result is a lot of file/frame... in the case of light layer animation the solution is only a manual move slider / save as /move slider save as .. that saves you!

sorry for my english... explain it is difficult with my english language level! Pibuz help me! :P

only a proof of concept...

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<render_queue>
	<item>
		<scene_path>XXXXXX</scene_path>
		<halt_time>YYYY</halt_time>
		<output_path>ZZZZ</output_path>
		<layer_variations>
			<layer_name>123</layer_name>
			<gain_start>1.0</gain_start>
			<gain_end>0.0</gain_end>
			<step>0.01</step>
			...
			...
			...
		</layer_variations>
	</item>
</render_queue>

I agree with Zom-B. You can import any number of file sequence you rendered in After Effects for example...in the right order.
Inside Cindigo you are able to animate and keyframe every element Indigo uses..Lightlayers included.
Im pretty sure with double GPU support rendering videos will be just fine as is.

Well, but if you like to do animations some Video editor Skill should be nice.
Its super easy to do a animation like you want just based on 1 single rendering and with all LightLayers rendered as a single file.
Then simply animate that images over each other like you like, setting the Layers to "add" :)

Ah, nice! Is this based on one single rendering and animated later in a video editor?

Please try AE for video...it is build from ground up for stuff you want to use in your project.

Can't that be done in Natron using exr light layers? Haven't seen it but it's free, maybe worth checking.
