Since MatID render pass was introduced to Indigo I learned to love it and use it regularly now
Now after some projects I have some ideas how it would be even better.
(the last point would be nice, but the first 3 should be "easier" to fulfill and make MatID powerfull enough for me):
GPU support
The speed of the MatID pass is kind of super slow compared to what the output actually is.
Rendering in Big print rez simply takes way to long...
Since MatID has super simple "materials" and the CPU can feed the GPU quickly...

Broken Region rendering ** FIXED IN 3.6.10 **
Since MatID still eats up time I would like to use it with region rendering to speed up the output.
I often don't need full scene MatID, but just for some regions of the rendering.
With RegionRendering, many materials become white
Custome ID color
for complex scenes the automatic color assignment quickly becomes suboptimal.
a optional <MatID_color> for a material would help here a lot!
General Multipass rendering
A own rendermode is suboptimal regarding workflow, couldn't be the main rendering be "recycled" to outbut some renderpasses in the backround?
Since the GPU work most of the time below its capabilities, it can be used to (also) to help here...
If somebody would like to see (some of) these improvements done, give me a quick +1 and fell free to add some more

We'll look into the Custom ID colour thing in a bit. Shouldn't be too hard (hopefully )
