If a hamster has not swallowed the universe by then...

This topic is to provide a compilation of your Indigo GUI requests for an easy access by the Glare Techs team. Be not affraid to dig up old stuff you are still finding to be relevant.

I'll maintain this first post to list the most relevant and popular ones, the discussion is open. Perhaps a poll would follow up for the last quarter. Let's begin.

[CAMERA]
- Obstacle maps and full aperture control
- additional navigation scheme(s)
- frame selection and adjust movement steps size accordingly.
- lens flare

[ENVIRONMENT]
- rotation slider for spherical projections (background).
- option to discard the bottom half from envmaps to save RAM

[GEOMETRY]
- New subdivision condition: edge length (range).

[GPU]
- enahnce handling of instances-intensive scenes.
- Support for Material ID and BG Alpha renderer.
- multi GPU support
- Extend support to other rendering modes

- Expose downsize filters.

[I/O]
- saving out 16 bit tiff and png images.
- camera file format (snapshots, aka camera bookmarks).
- IGI compression (7zip).
- Custom Indigo's Temp folder location.
- Bake Textures.

[ISL]
- Conversion of bump shaders to normal shaders (for lamers and me XD).
- inter-objects distance mapping.
- Volumetric displacement parameters.
- Flipped normal query (bool) for ie blend maps. Double sided materials.

[NETWORK/RESSOURCES/PERFORMANCES/ENHANCEMENTS/MISC]
- Bucket Render Mode
- Material test scene: Reduce DOF blur and set WhitePoint to F7.
- filter out Indigo files from other types on File > Open.
- multiple selection (and deletion).
- spectra as Indigo objects
- object based importance ratio or
- (offline, IGI based, insane ?) paths importance visualization and tweaking.
- Better integration into exporters.
- Easy upload to the Ranch renderfarm.
- Responsive user interruption during building stages.

[SHADING]
- transparent nkData.
- Shadow pass.
- Vector displacement.
- Curved Shell Mapping.
- Volumetric emission.
- Invisible lights.
- Coherent light emission.

NB:
Links to existing requests are welcome in order to help keeping this discussion tidy.
The classification above is approximative and non-exhaustive.
The timeline suggested in the title is non-binding, Santa-Klaus being a busy person :)

here is stuff that I have in mind too (no particular order):

- SuperSampling Option in the Resolution GUI Tab
- Bucket Render Mode for network rendering
- GPU Support for Material ID and BG Alpha renderer
- saving out 16 bit tiff and png images
- obstacle maps and full aperture control in Indigo GUI
- Sky only EnvMap usage
- Transparent NK support
- Proper Instances support for GPU rendering
- Vector Displacement Support
- IGI compression (7zip)

Supersampling factor has been an option in the image settings section for a few years now :)

Sorry for the bad explanation of that request -.-'

I was refering to on the Fly changing of Antialiasing during rendertime (or loaded IGI file).
Mostly changing from modes like gaussian to sharp and tweaking MN parameters.
By that you can determine whats best for the image you render...

Ah, ok, you mean tweaking of downsize filter during render, correct?

exactomundo :)

The differences in SuperSampling modes are quite subtle, so jumping between modes is a good way to actually SEE them!

What do you mean by this? GPU rendering supports instancing just fine.

Well, it does work with GPU Support... the point is that Instance rich scenes (Grass for example). STress the GPU so much that it looks that there is quite some room for improvements.
Here e a testscene: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6935848/indigo ... grass.pigs

I have to admit that the way of describing that in the list above is quite rude by me... to imply here something without much technical knowledge -.-

I know some of the exporters are working to be fully integrated into their host apps, making changes to the indigo GUI perhaps unnecessary. That being said it is nice to be able to load any scene (like that awesome grass scene Zom-B just posted) in Indigo and create great renders without the use of an export app.

+1 for aperture diffraction options

Please consider this:

-- giving the user the ability to change Indigo's Temp folder location.

Problem is that if you use the exporter, you can choose your location fine.

But if you load a scene manually into Indigo, it defaults to:

Users/User Name/AppData/Roaming/Indigo Renderer

I have just installed an SSD, and I would like to preserve it as much as possible. I have redirected Maxigo to my second HDD, and I would like Indigo to do the same!

I brought this up in another thread, but on the Mac version we are missing the file menu to save a material from a render in progress. we only have that option when using the material editor with the preview scene.

I've also been thinking, until there's full back and forth integration with the modeling programs, it could be nice to have the option to export a camera file, too. I sometimes tweak the camera settings while a test is rendering and it's tricky to get exactly the same thing back in Blender.

also, what happened to being able to adjust sun position and settings? I remember being able to do that before.

:-)
Boom!

I'd love to see the Realtime Editing mode come to the plugins, in particular indigo for cinema 4d, just for the selfish reason that's the one I use.
Even if it was in a seperate window not the viewport, that would be a good start.

Option for rendering shadow only for HDRI integration?

Boom!

What about the option to choose the IBL in the GUI, that would be awesome (with the rotate controls) :D
