[BUG] - No caustics from Skylight

Post by rgigante » Wed Jan 24, 2007 9:01 pm

Hi Nick,

after some test on 07.2 i've found that there's no caustics created with a skylight illumination. Follows the generated images.

With skilight:

With meshlight:

Hope it helps, Riccardo.

I think the caustics show up after awhile of rendering. So you probably have to let it render longer.

skylight seems to have problems with this build in general. (not working with SSS, etc)

Use v6 for stuff like this.

infinite plane

You use an infinite plane as floor, I guess.
Try with a finite plane or something, I observed caustics show up more quickly without infinite planes in a scene.

caustics will be alot more subtle with a skydome on, becuase if you think about it, its basically a huge lightsource that surrounds the object. the caustics 'blend' together if you know what i mean.
