Another fantastic image, well done.
Would also make a great DOF demonstration image.

Yes, very nice indeed.
I like this kind of shots. Minimalistic and styleish.

I agree with Suv and Ono. Great image! I'm starting to really like DOF :D

Thanks for all the nice replies guys. For myself coming from a photography background Indigo is becoming a real delight to use. I was always a fan of real motion blur and DoF and now I can add those in digital images as well.

Thank Ono

nice image Doug, but I have some points here:

For my poor eyes it seems that the scratches are extruded from the spheres... Also the scratched parts are as reflective as the rest of the sphere... using exponent map and generally blend a phong with a diffuse (for the scratched parts) is a good idea :)

Thats because they are not scratches but rather brush marks from a very old paintbrush - any more questions?  :D :)

Well as ZomB correctly pointed  out my scratches were more like embossed lines :D

So here is a redone version with a revised scratch bump map and a few other tweaks as well. I made the scratches look nore like random marks/bumps as I thought with hindsight that the scratches a were a bit OTT in the earlier version. I also used displacement for the continents in gold.

I don't know - I like the first version a lot more!

Too bright and brash?

How about this one?

Nope - I love the brush-strokes in the original! IMHO, the original intent on the first visualization is right on the money.

I like all of them (different color moods)! But your copyright writing needs some styling 8)
