Capitalism

DISCLAIMER: This image is absolutely non-political in every way. The author does not state that capitalism is in any way a sick system, doomed to ultimately fail.

It is possible that I've seen something along these lines once and just forgot it. Quite unlikely that it haven't been done before. Nevertheless...

6400 spp at just above 19 hours.

Human figures made with makehuman (because I'm lazy and bad at organic modelling).

Any C&C that doesn't involve ideologies is welcome. :)

High-res
Original rendering

An eventual upload to the gallery would of course not include the border/caption.

Thanks everyone. I was a little uncertain of whether the NYSE in the background would draw away attention from what should be the subject of the image. I added the caption mainly to balance it out.

Funny thing, I didn't know how to present the scene and ended up spending more time on the background than the rest of it.

Kram, there can't possibly be a precedent where art has been used as propaganda...has there? The disclaimer was just a joke.

Nice joke and idea, actual topic.

Yeah I think gulags were specialized artists pools for that purpose, not sure they succeeded we didn't heard much from them... the good ol'times (that was propaganda, but no art).

The other side is maybe that the image lacks dynamics ?

As well as plenty of other examples over the millenia. I guess it's a fine line about what should be considered art. If an artist creates something to show opinion, is it still art if it is used by some third party... I dunno, let's drop it.

As in color or as in that the message is one-sided?

As in perceptible motion. Bend a neck, move an arm, maybe the plate with people could be slightly off-balance, anything that could give the idea of a movement. The hardest part is not to overdo it, a subtle thing could do :)

Ok it could sound stupid to say an image is static...

lol "DISCLAIMER: This image is absolutely non-political in every way. The author does not state that capitalism is in any way a sick system, doomed to ultimately fail. "

That like saying to your girl "You definitely does not look fat in those jeans"

"Indigo - When your graphics card feels too fast"

Not at all :)
Infact it's an art on it's own to get movement into a static pic :)
Motion Blur is one way, but a nogo for Indigo... An other one is, if there a people (and there are), to use poses, which naturally can't be held for long - poses between two poles of stability. :)

Regarding my crit, I must admit that's only one point of view, as an artist you have the right to defend your choice, without having to MadSwede ;)

And I will not dare ask you 19 more hours of rendering :)

I was actually considering a re-render only because of the camera angle but I'd already worked on this far longer than I'd planned to.

I guess it's a little uniform but I didn't have motion in mind for this one. I could certainly have given the figures slightly different poses but I merely wanted the representation of humans to come across without being too...comical I guess.

But any constructive criticism is always welcome, so thanks! :)
