Quick one - ligne roset catalogue
CTZn: I think so too. It's hard to explain otherwise. But it's an interesting effect.
Neepneep: Thanks for the tip. I'm no Sketchup man right now but I might as well give it a shot. I actually find camera matching alright in Blender. The problem is getting all the info you need about the camera length.
Kwistenbiebel: Glad you think so too. But there are a few interesting features coming up soon in Fryrender, I'm told (just teasing, Nick)
Jurasek: Hi mate. Yes, it's all lit by emitter. I'm pasting the camera settings. I used camera tonemapping. This is for one of the two images I merged. The second one had aperture diffraction on. But it seems to slow down high-resolution renders a lot. It takes forever for the filter to apply, which is why I cut it short. Not the same when working with smaller images

Just for fun, I tried generating a velvet mat... a mix of 4 mats:
Void NK for some fresnel reflections & darkening... 1x d. Transmitter,
1x a high sigma Oren Nayar, and finaly a phong for some frontal reflections...
All mixed with some basic noise bumb!
The final seems more like a SSS fake plastic thing :/

He he... why being so shy, I attached the igm! Proudly generated by Cindigo XD
jep, the noise doesn't came out the way I wanted, blending (so many) mats is still followed by a lot of testing & experimenting!
I'm seriously interested if bbb gives it a second try using some custom blending magic

Hey Zomb. That's a nice mat, not quite velvet yet but interesting. Two questions: why a diffuse transmitter (unless you want to use it as a lampshade), and how long does it take to render?
Thanks for the .igm. Not quite sure what to do with it, though, since I put my mats together in Blendigo. Anyway to use it with this script?

the secret of making velvet like materials lies in the bumpmap. there was a thread at the maxwell forum but it seems it's already deleted (too old?). unfortunatly i also can't find this bump-map anymore so i have to make one myself.
anyway, i currently render a proof-of-concept image - we'll see ....

doesn't look like velvet yet but you get the idea

Good start.
Found the link for the free car models. It was actually posted by ZomB a while back: http://dmi.chez-alice.fr/models1b.html
