Some interior renderings

Post by enricocerica » Sat Feb 16, 2008 12:39 am

Hi,

Waiting inspiration (or request) for some new projects, I did several renderings of a recent project "Nice building in Brussels" I rendered with Yafaray. Here are some results I got playing with light (sun or meshes) and DOF. I used camera tonemapping for the light calibration.

Modelled with Blender (except Orchid)
Rendered with Indigo 1.04

Pretty amazing. I would lower the IOR on your orchid leaves, and maybe use a texture for the flowers, but these are tiny points. Otherwise, no crit. A very good looking pair of images. (none of the links works for me...)

Very good renders.
The modelling and texturing are excellent, but to be honest there's two things that bother me in your images :
- Ok, sorry I'm going to be very picky here : I can't explain exactly why, but I'd say the viewpoint you choosed doesn't deserve the scene best (first image). Mmmh, it's hard to tell, it just doesn't seems the most "natural" to me. Maybe it's because the shot is not focused on something in particular, like if you tried to show everything in one image.
- And I'd say it's a little bit too saturated to my taste (specially the red sofas).
But otherwise, excellent !
Did you model the whole thing btw ?

dr: could it be that the first image is very slightly wonky. the verticals aren't.

I went to see your other renders, and I find that they work much better (the 1st, 2nd and 5th ones). I like the very first one best if you ask me.

Hey, the link works now (weird).
Lots of good stuff there! I'm slowly putting two and two together now, looking at your magic bullet piece. That was one amazing image. Congrats on getting in 3D World, that's a pretty huge achievement, especially since they don't tend to carry Blender work.

Thanks to all,

@BbB:Agree with your remark concerning the IOR on the orchid leaves, indeed they tend to be reflectiveless. I've already reduced it but not enough for sure. Glad you like the magic bullet, it's my favourite.

@drBouvierLeduc:Yeah, for the first one I probably wanted to show too much thinks, now that I look it, a crop on the left part would be a nice point of vue, would try to render it. I also like the first one (on the link page), the angle works well here and it gives a nice deepness. Yes I moddeled everything except the orchid I got on a site (don't remember where), but I had to change it as leaves and flowers didn't have any thinkness and this is not very useful with Indigo. I used array modifier to help for modelling the stair.

Nice job, although I have to agree that there isn't really a focal point and maybe to many things to look at.

I love Rene Magrittes' pipe in this scene ...
Lovely to see some surrealism in those images.

"Ceci n'est pas une render"? ;)
