a simple little render
a simple little render
Nothing too complicated, just trying to increase my modelling skills really. I was going along quite well with the space suit until I got to the fingers. I will finish modelling it one day, but for now I am a bit stumped as to how to continue modelling it...Anyway I did a little render of it and I think it is ok...The enviroment is a exr I made in terragen using nasa mars mola data, so its a real martian landscape..oh a little bit of post pro on the image, just levals and bit of a colour adjust

yes, the aa is not too good, especially across the top of the helmet. I did only use suampling factor 1, i was lazy and just wanted a quick render..It doesn't look like a indigo render? Why, because its not a render of an interior of a building..lol.. I do know what you mean, really I could have got similar results with a traditional raytracer, and a lot quicker..But I like indigo, and the time doesn't worry me...This was only really a bit of a test render, but I thought people might like it because its a bit different to the usual images posted here. But criticism is always welcome
It is an interesting image lar111.
You could blur the env map to fake DoF and smooth lighting a bit. Also the "contre-jour" is a very special case for a camera PoV, maybe that dimms the image too much. Last word about ship position in image...
Finally it's quite conceptual, not really a mature composition yet. But I like it !

Ok, thanks for the comments everyone. Especially the crits, it helps me a lot to hear other peoples thoughts. The idea of blurring the env map to fake the depth of field is something I hadn't ever thought of. Its a good idea, thanks CTZn. One day I will finish the model and do a proper render of it, I have had this idea of puting her in the cockpit of a ship. Lots of little lights and moniters, see if I can get some cool reflestions of the faceplate of the helmut. But thats for another day when my modelling is a bit more advanced.
