Hi guys, I am attaching test render of grass I did yesterday in SketchUp. Personally, this is my best vegetation render by far! c&c are welcome as always!
Cheers!

Re: Grass test
Quite nice - did you use Skatter, or the Skindigo scatterer?
I do think the strands look a little dry. I would try to make them a tad more reflective and "juicy".

Re: Grass test
Hi Oscar, I used Skindigo Scatterer.
I agree on grass, I made it as phong transmitter, opacity was set to 70%. And parameters was something like 1.25 IOR and 150 exponent. with slight bump.

Re: Grass test
I think, that making IOR 1.45 for fresh and 1.55 for dry is pretty accurate.

Re: Grass test
Woah, thanks Eneen, that is quite a detailed document for herbs in renders!
Re: Grass test
That's indeed good doc. I was looking for plants IOR for really long and that made my day. Best part is that knowing difference between live and dead leaf one can control reflection pretty accurate.
When used first time it seems that leaves are too reflective with 1.45, but it's ok for sure. That 1.55 is ok for wood too.

Re: Grass test
True, but exponent is playing equally same roll if you ask me. What is the usual that you use? I found that 100-350 is playing the best for the herbs, since there is huge variety of different herbs and plants.
As for the wood, I usually use 1.30 - 1.75 IOR for treated wood and very low ones for barks.

Re: Grass test
I'm trying to build external leaf material database and usually set roughness about 0.7.
