You're right! I think at the moment it's obligatory to learn other 3d apps for correct working linked meshes in skp, so congrats for choosing blender.

One more recently completed personal project. Architecture by Bates Maher (sadly now defunct).

Great pic and architecture! It still does take some courage to do believable CGI outdoor scenes imo - great job!

A final version of an old WIP previously posted somewhere...

I seem to have found myself with a little time lately!

Yes, the bread is good but it sinks in the wood.. I think the kitchen needs more modeled details like electric plugs and wires, maybe some led numbers in oven etc. Little details that makes this kitchen more possibe.

All fair points indeed! (and the bread... ) So, this is it last go at these, fixed the bread, added some more 'stuff', used a better granite mat for the worktop and turned on app dif for that nice bloom at the windows.

I think it looks better! I like kitchen_1 more because the image is easier to read.

This one looks really neat!

But to enhance it even further you need to fix the flying trees where the roots aren't in the ground ;)
The Stone in the front maybe could use some stronger displacement, too. How about placing there some frog?

Do you use doublesided material for the leaves in this scene, since they have a quite "solid" feel?

 God... I obviously need more sleep...

I'll be honest I've never quite figured out how to do this in SketchUp, and I thought I get away with it here because the leaves in the water would be thicker 'waxy' leaves anyway and not thin translucent like on a tree...

usually its worth the pain, since dense foliage brightens up by translucent leafs and gets even more awesome with direct sunlight...
Maybe try converting a single tree first, and do a region render to compare with the old look.
Sadly I can't help with material setup in Skindigo -.-'

Doubleside Materials get discussed here and here
