Unexpected
Unexpected
Hi guys!
Here's a new image I've just finished, made the scene yesterday evening and photoshopped it today.
Oh yeah, I call it "Unexpected" because of the tree surrounded by concrete. There's more symbolism to it, anyone can fill that in for themselves or share it here if they like!
C&C always welcome!

Re: Unexpected
Great work, nice feel to it!
Re: Unexpected
Yes, great composition and contrast between warm (tree, movement, life) and cold (concrete, stillness, death) tones. The postpro effect helps in bringing out the feeling. I only think that the floor texture would need more detail (bigger texture).
I'm also interested in the tree, technique of adding and provenience (since I remember you use SketchUp)

Re: Unexpected
Very nice mood, I like it!
It's modeled in SketchUp? Where did you get this nice tree?

Thanks for the comments guys!
yep, something has gone wrong with the floor texture, it's one from Arroway textures and tiled at the correct size.. Must've been something done by SU...
Regarding the tree, it is from xfrog. And you're not going to like this, but it was just imported as a .3ds when everything was modeled, size of the tree in SU is 150mb! And SU is handling it quite well... ... .. When not displayed.

Re: Unexpected
I'm still new to Indigo, but if you use Sketchup why did't you use the tree as external mesh? That's a great tool, you can even build a forest with SketchupFoXar wrote:Thanks for the comments guys!

Re: Unexpected
..maybe because 3ds meshes are no longer supported as external elements
Re: Unexpected
Nice render, would love to stand there!
About the trees; a tool I like to create bg trees with is arbaro.
http://arbaro.sourceforge.net/ It's simple to use and free!
Even though there are not many ready to go presets, you can create pretty much anything with it.

Re: Unexpected
1. Import 3ds-file to sketchupPibuz wrote:..maybe because 3ds meshes are no longer supported as external elements
2. export to obj from sketchup
3. use obj as external mesh
didn't try it yet, but this should work

Re: Unexpected
Probably it would, but you could find some troubles when importing really heavy geometry..
If you think about it, using external meshes is indeed really useful just not to be forced to import geometry inside sketchy..
