Indigo automatic network slave for any logged in user

Post by fractal.design » Fri Jun 01, 2018 9:47 am

Hello,

We're (again) attempting to setup a render farm for local renders in our university computer labs.

We've successfully installed the "Indigo Network Client Service" on a windows PC,
however when a different user logs in, the slave is inactive.

Are you able to confirm that the Network Client should work with all/any user logged in to the machine?

What are the triggers for the Network Client?
(the documentation at https://www.indigorenderer.com/document ... atic-slave describes "Network Slave during screensaver", does this need to be a certain screensaver or is this triggered by a system hook?)

The client connects to the master fine and starts working on render jobs when "indigo.exe -n s" is executed.

Also, it appears running "indigo.exe -n s" does not acquire a floating licence, indigo.exe is needed to run first/every 10mins for the slave to acquire a valid network licence.
Does the network client service resolve this issue?
resolved this issue being due to us not having the appropriate "node" type licence, thanks for the quick licence update :)

Hi,

Basically the way it works is, when the network client service detects that a screensaver is running, then it runs an Indigo network client.
(To be precise, it's any program with a .scr extension running)

If no screensaver is found to be running, it terminates the Indigo network client.
