I guess he modeled them. He's a very good vegetation-ist!

sorry, but since you use the skp I wonder if you use the hdr map, how can you change the sky light so smooth?

Thanks dakiru. For those two images, I used the F250CD camera response function.

Thanks Pibuz!

Thanks Tom. I already lowered the exponent value on that grass to 50 but it was still shiny. It must be lowered even further.

Word!
Jeff, where did you get them from? Evermotion, XFrog, Dosch?
The trees were modeled inside sketchup. I would love have those Evermotion trees on the scenes but they are not compatible with sketchup.

I use the sketchup sun and sky for most of the renderings on this thread. The color of the sky can be changed under the light layers. To assign layers to the sun & sky, open render settings and choose the environment. Assign layers as shown. (see attachments) During rendering change the values on the sun or sky layer to get desired results.

Cheers!

Try exponent 20 with IOR or 1.6 or a bit lower. It's been working for me but see how it looks...

On page 3 of this thread, I uploaded the sketchup file of the environment I am using for the scenes rendered here. It has grasses and trees. You can download it.

Cheers!

Thanks Tom, I'll try those values for the exponent & IOR.

Some updates. Nothing special. Just fixed the grass. It is no longer shiny.

Sorry Jeff to bother you.
Do you still achieve half-diffuse grass setting its SU opacity to values different from 100? Because it seems that here the feature is broken or something.

I'll post some tests but if I set a normal plastic and then I select an opacity value different from 100%, the material is rendered just the same.

Hi Pibuz!
Yes, it is still working. I am also using the 50% opacity & dull plastic material preset on the leaves and it is noticeable on some of the foliage on the first set of renders on page 4. I also used it on the grass for the GH house.

Just re-rendered some old scenes again. The only major change here was the elevation of the house. It is much lower now. The first step on the stair is now at the right height from the ground.

..strange...
I find the auto-blend when SU opacity is different from 100 working oddly in v.2.2.12. All right in 2.2.9.
I did some tests, I'll post them here in a few days..

I finally had time to restart this WIP. On this update, some of the vegetation had been replaced.
