Re: "Metal Pipe-thing..."
Hi!
Just a quick update.
The background will be no issue at all eventually: the client would like just a plain white background + alpha, since he wants to be able to insert the views in other documents.
Here's what I showed him (before he told me he wanted just a white background), he was quite pleased.
Cheers!

Re: "Metal Pipe-thing..."
Much better but I think problem is model, maybe if you add more detalis like champfers and weld in center.
Can you show wire of your studio and model ? Will be easier to help

Re: "Metal Pipe-thing..."
(sorry for not replying sooner, been away some time on holiday!)
Thanks for your comment hcpiter, indeed a smoother linking between the 2 pipes would have added greatly, but doing this using Sketchup is nearly impossible to me...
I've done some more work on a tap (see tap picture below), and I eventually had to use Blender to smoothly link the pipes - using the Subsurf option.
=> If anyone has some kind of advice or tip in Sketchup, that would enable me to get a "smooth" effect when linking 2 pipes, that would greatly help me!
Thanks guys!

Re: "Metal Pipe-thing..."
Hi again!
I'd like to get rid of the "focus blur" effect - how could I do this?
Maybe it comes from the fact that the model is very small (10cm), compared with the size of the camera focus.
Do you think that making the object bigger (1 meter) would do the trick?
Thanks!

Re: "Metal Pipe-thing..."
If you want to retain the correct physical scale then make the camera F-stop value smaller.
You would then also have to raise ISO or EV value to compensate it and keep the same lighting levels.

Re: "Metal Pipe-thing..."
Thanks for this!
I'll try this as soon as I'm back home!
Just to make sure:
I want to keep the physical scale, AND avoid having the camera blur effect.
That is to say having the ENTIRE model as "crisp" and "sharp" as it is in the middle part of the model.

Re: "Metal Pipe-thing..."
Yes. Smaller fstop makes less blur. f/2 = a lot of blur, f/16 = not that much blur
